A Day of Inclusion, Community and Celebration in Felixstowe
On Friday 11th July, Suffolk Mobility Events hosted a community celebration along Felixstowe seafront – a day dedicated to recognising and celebrating disabled people.
The event brought together individuals, families, carers and local organisations for a parade along the seafront, followed by an inclusive exhibition and entertainment at Felixstowe Leisure Centre. From live music from the Sambooma Samba Band and Felixstowe Harmonies to circus performers and interactive stands and storytelling, the day was filled with a welcoming and caring atmosphere for all to enjoy.
Suffolk Mobility Solutions was proud to be part of the event, both as a co-founder of Suffolk Mobility Events and through hosting a stand within the trade exhibition area. The event created space to talk with attendees about the importance of accessibility at home and in public spaces. It also offered a chance to listen, learn and celebrate the resilience and diversity of the community we support.
Footage from the day was later featured on ITV News, helping to amplify the message of inclusion to a wider audience across the region.
Reflecting on the day, Suffolk Mobility Solutions Director and Suffolk Mobility Events co-director Ian Bell said:
“This was more than just a day out by the sea. It was a chance for people to be seen and celebrated for who they are. We’ve been overwhelmed by the response, the turnout, the atmosphere, the kindness, it’s something we’ll carry with us for a long time.”
The event also raised funds for two local charities, ActivLives and Suffolk Mind, whose work continues to make a difference across the county.
